Civic Engagement Organizer
Full Time, Exempt
Location: Montgomery County, PA
Compensation: $50,000 ~ $55,000
Reports to: Advocacy & Civic Engagement Manager
Who we are: Established in late 2018, Woori Center’s mission is to organize Korean and Asian Americans to achieve social, racial, and economic justice. Serving the Greater Philadelphia, Woori Center empowers the most vulnerable community members including the low-income, recent immigrant, limited English proficient, undocumented, youth, women, and seniors. Through education, social service, community organizing, public policy advocacy, civic participation, and arts & culture programs, Woori Center ensures that these community members can impact progressive change at the local and state levels. Woori Center is an affiliate of, and fiscally sponsored by, a national progress Asian American organization, NAKASEC.
The Position: Woori Center is seeking a dedicated and community-driven Civic Engagement Organizer to lead our voter engagement programs and drive general community organizing for long-term base building. This position will report to the Advocacy & Civic Engagement Manager. This position is focused on reaching out to the local Asian American community to determine felt needs via needs assessments, civic engagement and social media. The Civic Engagement Organizer will also provide programmatic support and gain administrative experience.
Ideal candidates will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and independent team players who thrive on connecting with others.
Responsibilities
Civic Engagement & Field Program Coordination (40%)

Design & Implementation: Help with planning, execution, and evaluation of civic engagement programs, voter outreach campaigns, and leadership development initiatives. Coordinate a year-round civic engagement program that align with Woori Center's mission and vision.

Field Operations: Manage field logistics for voter mobilization, including turf cutting, list management via VAN, and direct all voter contact programs (door-knocking, phone banking, tabling, etc.). Recruit and supervise paid canvassers.

Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and support part-time field staff, interns, and volunteers to ensure field plans and program goals are met.

Coalition Building: Build and maintain strong partnerships with local schools, community groups, and civic organizations to co-host community forums and voter turnout efforts.
Community Outreach & Base Building (30%)

Field Research & Needs Assessment: Lead and execute community surveys through door-knocking, site-based tabling, and digital outreach to identify and document pressing issues facing the local Asian American community.

Civic Engagement: Drive voter registration drives and bilingual community education initiatives focusing on local policies, tenants' rights, and immigrant resources.

Data Stewardship: Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential records of community interactions, survey data, and voter contact metrics using VAN/EveryAction.

Digital Mobilization: Create culturally relevant, engaging content (such as short-form videos and graphics) for social media platforms to reach diverse demographics across generations.
Program Support & In-Person Services (20%)

Event & Workshop Logistics: Coordinate logistics for community workshops, forums, and rallies—including venue management, materials preparation, and bilingual support.

Direct Service & Welcome: Serve as a welcoming, culturally responsive point of contact for community members seeking resources or program information during office hours.
Organizational Support & Administration (10%)

Reporting & Strategy: Participate in regular staff meetings to report on outreach benchmarks, share community feedback, and brainstorm engagement strategies.

Professional Development: Attend internal trainings and community meetings to deepen understanding of grassroots organizing and Asian American advocacy.

General Support: Assist with other administrative or program-related duties as needed to support the mission of the organization.
Required Key Competencies & Qualifications

Commitment to Mission: Deep dedication to social justice, immigrant rights, and building political power within the Asian American community.

Field Experience: Experience in community organizing, political campaigns, or grassroots outreach (experience with VAN or similar voter databases is a strong plus).

Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect easily with diverse community members; bilingual proficiency (Korean, English, or other relevant languages) is highly preferred.

Self-Starter: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, including willingness to work flexible hours (occasional evenings and weekends for events/fieldwork).
Preferred Qualifications (not required)

Bilingual fluency in English and as Asian language spoken in Montgomery County.

Prior experience with door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, or text banking.
